Like headshots, there are many different kinds
of acting resumes. No two acting resumes look the same. Don't waste a lot
of time doing this. Casting directors and talent agents don't care about
fancy type and paper. They want an organized, readable, resume with some
decent credits. Here's the simple formula:
- Contact info - How to contact you
- Description - Your height, hair color, eye color
- Credits - Anything you've acted in - theatre, commercials, shorts, anything!
- Training - Any acting training you've done
- Union Affiliations - Do you belong to any unions? SAG?
AFTRA?
- Skills - Special things you can do - both physical and
language skills
Even if you don't think you have much to put down, do it anyway. Even
if all you have is your name, do it! You have to start with something.
Once you start, you're
going
to
build your resume with real roles. Don't worry about putting small
things on your resume. If you have little or no experience, then focus
on your training! As you obtain roles, these will go on the resume! Incidently, this is why you want to order headshots without a printed
resumé on the back. Just staple your constantly updated resumé to
the back of the same headshot. We recommend printing your headshots in 8
1/2 X 11 inch format so standard letter paper with your resumé information
won't overlap the old 8X10 photo prints!
